“The arrest of Sanjay Singh deemed neither unnecessary nor unreasonable”, according to Delhi Court

AAP MP Sanjay Singh
In the ongoing Delhi liquor policy case, the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court firmly stated on Thursday that the arrest of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was entirely justified and not arbitrary. Sanjay Singh was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate after an extensive 10-hour interrogation and has been detained in the agency’s custody until October 10.

The court underscored the legitimacy of Sanjay Singh’s arrest, given the accusations made by the Enforcement Directorate, asserting that he was directly linked to the receipt of proceeds totaling Rs 2 crore in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. According to the probe agency, these funds were transferred to Sanjay Singh by Dinesh Arora, a key figure in the case who had turned approver. The court also noted that Arora’s statements did not appear to be tainted, and he provided corroborative evidence affirming Sanjay Singh’s involvement in the alleged scam.
