Neuralink, Elon Musk’s Startup, Achieves First Human Implantation Milestone: Telepathy

Telepathy
Elon Musk, speaking on Monday, revealed that his brain-science startup company, Neuralink, has successfully implanted a device into a human for the first time knows as “Telepathy”. He described it as a breakthrough that allows people to control their phones “by thinking about it.” Musk unveiled the development in Musk X(Twitter), identifying the patient as someone with an undisclosed condition, stating, “He’s got a wireless implant” and “he’s doing well.” Initial results showed promise with the demonstration of the “asynchronous neural spike detection” process. Musk did not provide further details about the procedure or the device developed by the company. He called it as “Telepathy”.

Experts in neuroscience and computer interfaces have worked on concepts like these for decades, and if successful, they could potentially assist individuals with physical disabilities by providing them with a means to communicate or even enhance their abilities beyond what is currently possible.
Neuralink’s progress does not have an immediate application for instant independent decision-making. Musk mentioned that Neuralink has initiated a clinical study, beginning in September, to regulate patients’ neural activities. However, immediate widespread use or autonomy has not been determined.
