This set the stage for the hosts, needing 231 to win, but Tom Hartley, making his debut in Test cricket, wreaked havoc with figures of 7-62. India crumbled and were all out for 202 in an extended final session on the penultimate day of the match.

Rohit Sharma’s 39 emerged as the highest score by an Indian batter in the second innings.
