IMD Issues Red alert for 4 states due to cold wave

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of severe cold conditions and the possibility of dense fog in northern India over the next 4 days. The IMD issued an advisory stating that intense cold wave conditions are expected to prevail in northern India for the next 2 days, followed by a subsequent decrease in severity. The western Himalayan region is anticipated to experience rainfall or snowfall from January 25 to 28. The states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh have been put on ‘Red Alert’ on January 24 for cold wave conditions, followed by an ‘Orange Alert’ from January 25 to 27.
