Neeraj Chopra, the renowned javelin thrower whose name shines atop the charts, was born on December 24, 1997, in Khandra village near Panipat, Haryana, into a humble farmer’s family. His father, Satish Kumar, tills the land in their village, while his mother, Saroj Devi, manages their home. Neeraj has two sisters. His fascination with javelin began at the young age of 11 when he met Jaiveer (Jai Choudhary), a javelin athlete representing Haryana, at the Panipat Stadium. Impressed by Neeraj’s natural talent, Jaiveer became his first coach, mentoring him for about a year.
Debut
In 2013, Neeraj made his international debut at the World Youth Championships in Ukraine, securing a silver medal with a throw of 76.79 meters. His breakthrough moment came in 2014 when he clinched the gold medal at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, throwing an impressive 86.48 meters.
