On Tuesday, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi was forcefully prevented from entering the city of Guwahati, leading to clashes as Congress activists erected barricades. Police set up two barricades to block the procession from entering the city limits. To ease traffic congestion, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma announced that permission for the procession to enter the city would not be granted. The yatra, which entered Meghalaya on Monday, returned to Assam and is traveling through the largest city in the state, Guwahati outskirts.
